Taking a break...

Hi everyone.
As you may have noticed I stopped posting, and I've been trying to find a way to write this post. If you follow my page on Facebook then you already know... I will be taking a break from blogging.
Nail polish used to be a way for me to express myself, and it was a hobby I loved, now it feels more like a chore. I need to take some time for myself, I don't know when or if I will be back. I'm sorry.
Thank you to all of my loyal followers, I appreciate all the love you've given me these past few years.

31DC2013: Day 12 - Stripes

As you can see we've reached Day 12 of the 31 Day Challenge, and that means stripes!
I'm not a huge fan of stripe nails so I went simple with my design, I just wasn't very inspired. Of course I added a nice glitter base to make it look a little fancier haha.

These nails aren't my favorite, but they will do. I'm really proud of myself for posting everyday, and doing this challenge. It's been tough (especially when you work) but it's been totally worth it so far.

I know I've lost quite a few followers since I started this, and less people comment.. but the people that truly appreciate my blog, and care have stuck around. Thank you!

31DC2013: Day 11 - Polka Dot Nails

Hey lovelies!
I was totally ready to post my nails this morning, but I hated them and realized I couldn't handle posting them and re-did them. I'm insanely happy with my re-do nails!

I don't even know why I went with this circle polka dot thing, but I love the way it turned out. Definitely better than the fail nails I had originally planned to post.

I'm over 1/3 of the way done the challenge now, lets hope I can finish it!

31DC2013: Day 10 - Gradient Nails

I'm usually a person who schedules my posts ahead of time, but of course I went to bed early last night because I had to be up early for work and I didn't even realize I forgot to schedule a post lol.
I'm such a huge fan of Gradients so I was so excited for this day. I usually do bold gradients, and I use multiple colors, so this time I decided to stick with one color, pink, and do an all pink gradient using 2 shades.

I had to add black and white glitter to my mani of course, it just didn`t seem complete without it. I'm really loving this though.. it's so different for me, especially since I don't like pinks, but I think it looks great.

My mani for tomorrow is a bit of a fail, so be prepared for that haha.

31DC2013: Day 9 - Rainbow Nails

Hey everyone!
I was really hoping I could find time to re-do these nails, but I didn't.. so instead I sadly have to post them. I had such high expectations for the rainbow look, yet these were a total fail for me.

Atleast they have a somewhat "rainbow" look to them, they will have to do. I really loved the way they looked while I was painting them, but in photos they looked so blah.

Don't you hate when that happens?

31DC2013: Day 8 - Metallic Nails

Today is Day 8 of the 31 Day Challenge, which means Metallic Nails. I'm not going to lie, I had a really hard time with this one. I'm honestly not a huge fan of metallic polishes, and I didn't own a lot of them.
So I opted out of nail art today and just went for something simple.

I was going to leave the glitter out, but I decided it was a little too boring without it.
Don't worry, I will try harder next time haha.

31DC2013: Day 7 - B&W Nails

I thought today was going to be a hard day, but the second I knew it was B&W nails day an idea popped right into my head so I went with it.

I loved the simplicity of this design, and it's something I haven't tried before. Sadly my top coat messed up my pinkie nail, I guess that will teach me to wait longer for my polish to dry lol.

31DC2013: Day 6 - Violet Nails

I've been so excited for today, Violet nails! I'm obsessed with purples, I had way too many polishes to choose from for this one so I decided to incorporate a few that I loved.

I love this design! I followed a tutorial by Chalkboard Nails to get this look, and I couldn't believe how simple it was to do.

I'm really proud of myself so far. I know I'm only 6 days into this challenge, but I was so uninspired before, and was hesitant on trying new designs and this has really helped me.

31DC2013: Day 5 - Blue Nails

It's now Day 4 of the 31 Day Challenge, and that means blue nails. I actually own a TON of blue polishes, so it was very hard to choose what to use for today. I decided to do 2 of my favorite blues, as well as my favorite nail art design.

I love doing leopard print nails, and I love it even more with these stunning blue polishes.
I can't believe I've made it to Day 5 already, I'm starting to get a little tired and I'm running out of ideas but I'm loving the challenge so far.
Lets hope I can make it till the end!

31DC2013: Day 4 - Green Nails

I can't believe that it's already Day 4, wooo! That means it's time for some Green Nails!
I honestly wasn't feeling very inspired by this color, so I just went for something simple again.
Surpsingly enough I had quite a few green polishes to choose from, I ended up using Gosh - Miss Minty for the base and then Color Club - Abyss down the middle. (Also used Sephora X - Chaotic and a silver striper)

I like the simplicity of this, but I hate that the silver photographs so weird. It looked like a perfect line in person and in photo's it looks like flecks of glitter. Oh well, I'm still satisfied.

I can't believe tomorrow is Day 5 already! Come back tomorrow and see my Blue Nails, they will feature a typical nail art design that I have done A LOT.

31DC2013: Day 3 - Yellow Nails

Hey lovelies!
It's officially Day 3 of the 31 Day Challenge, which means Yellow nails! I knew immediately what I wanted to do for this one, it was a no brainer.
Anyone that follows me on Instagram knows that my username is lindsaylemon, lemon is a nickname from my initials which are LEM, so of course yellow means lemons to me!

These are not the best nails I've done, the lines aren't even and they are a bit messy, but I still love them because they are lemons lol.

Thanks for reading, and don't forget to check tomorrow for Day 4, Green Nails!

31DC2013: Day 2, Orange Nails

It's now Day 2 in the 31 Day Challenge, and that means orange nails! This is another color I don't use very often, but I decided to do something out of my element today.
I was looking for some inspiration so I decided to go through a few of my favorite blogs and look at some tutorials when I came across an Ikat tutorial by Kayla Shevonne. I knew immediately that I had to give this a try, and orange would work beautifully with this design.

I had a bit of difficulty with this one but it was worth it in the end, I am so in love with the way they turned out.

That's 2 days down now, stay tuned tomorrow for some yellow nails!

31DC2013: Day 1, Red Nails!

Hey lovelies!
I'm so excited, it's Day 1 of the 31 Day Challenge and today's theme is Red Nails. I'm actually not a huge fan of red polish, I only had a few to choose from so I decided to just go with something really simple.
I decided to go with a Fishtail Mani design, I've only attempted to do this once and it went horribly wrong lol.

My camera really didn't like red, I tried a few other designs with red polishes and it kept making them appear pink. Thankfully I had this beauty and it photographed a bit better.

Stay tuned for tomorrows orange nails, I'm really excited about them!

Thanks for reading! xox

China Glaze - Bottoms Up

Hey loves!
Today I have a swatch of a gorgeous pink neon polish by China Glaze, Bottoms Up. This was part of the Summer 2013 Sunsational Collection, and it was the only polish I ended up finding from the collection :(

I was afraid my camera wouldn't capture the brightness of this polish but it did such an amazing job. I am in love with this polish, every time I wear it I always have people asking me what polish it is.

Mentality - Rowdy

Hey everyone!
I'm back! I know it's been almost a week since I've posted but I just needed a break, and I've been stressed and working a lot lately.
Today I have a beautiful polish by Mentality, and it's also my very first polish by Mentality.
I received this in some nail mail from a friend, and she knows I'm a huge sucker for purples.

I used 2 coats for full coverage then applied a gel top coat.

Here's a picture of this polish without a top coat.

Without top coat it gives a semi-matte finish.
This polish is absolutely stunning, I love everything about it! My nail mail buddy definitely got me a winner with this one.

Do you prefer it with or without top coat?

Glitter, Holo, and Studs Galore!

Hey lovelies!
I haven't done a mani using studs in awhile so I figured it was time!
Last time I used studs I stuck to one shape, this time I decided to experiment a bit.
For this I used: Color Club - Magic Attraction, Essie - Meet Me At The Altar, 365 Days Of Color - Jellybean There Done That and Studs from Born Pretty Store.

I liked the way this turned out, something very different for me.

Thanks for reading!
Only 8 more days left to enter my giveaway! :)

Ipsy Glam Bag August - Glamour Academy

Hey lovelies!
Today I have something a little different for you, a review on my August Ipsy bag. I have been receiving these for months and I always say I'm going to review them but I never end up getting around to it lol, but this time I finally did!

If you haven't heard of Ipsy before, it's a bag that you pay $10 a month for ($15 for Canadians) and you get cosmetics/skin care that are chosen for you.
The bag was adorable this month, it's purple (my favorite) with little crests for Glamour Academy. This month I received - Smashbox Photofinish Primer, Mica Beauty Shimmer Powder - Bronze, Pixi - Lash Booster Mascara, Michael Todd - Pumpkin Nutrient Facial Mask and Urban Decay lipstick - 69.

I didn't take a picture of the Smashbox primer because I have used this product before so it slipped my mind on something to review. If you haven't used it before this primer has a very silky texture, you only need a pea size amount for the whole face. It will definitely make your makeup last all day long!

Mica Beauty Shimmer Powder Eyeshadow - Bronze. This is a loose pigment eyeshadow in a beautiful bronze color. I love bronze shades, they make my blue eyes so pop so I was so happy to see in this in my bag.

Pixi Lash Booster Mascara. I actually had never heard of the brand Pixi until recently when Target finally opened in Canada. I still hadn't had a chance to try the products so it was nice to receive this mascara. I'm always looking for a really good mascara, and I really like the brush on this one.

Urban Decay Lipstick - 69. I am in love with this color! I have tried quite a few of these new lipsticks and the pigment on them is amazing. They really stain the lip, nourish and last for hours! This color is a stunning red with a blue undertone, which works well on my fair skin.

Lastly, Michael Todd - Pumpkin Nutrient Mask. I'm always hesitant to try new skincare but I loved the fact that it had pumpkin in it. I have the Kate Somerville Exfolikate intense which has pumpkin and I love it so I decided to try this out. It has a very nice texture to it, and felt very nourishing after.

Different Dimension - Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty

Hey everyone!
It's been almost a week since I last posted, and I want to apologize for that. If you like me on facebook then you know I was a little stressed and uninspired so I decided to take a break for a few days and clear my head.
Today I have a swatch of Different Dimension - Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty, I used 3 thin coats to get good coverage.

I love this. So far I haven't found a Different Dimension polish I haven't liked haha.
I'm sitting here wearing this polish while drinking out of my Big Bang Soft Kitty mug, and I feel like I should be wearing my Soft Kitty T-Shirt too lol.

Thanks for reading! xox

Zoya - Stevie

Hey everyone!
I know this polish is old news, but I just received it in some nail mail! This was on my wishlist so I'm so happy I finally have it, I'm such a sucker for purples.

It's just as beautiful as I hoped, I LOVE this. My nail mail buddy ended up getting me a few other textured polishes so expect to see those very soon. :)

Thanks for reading! xox

My Polish Stash

Hey loves!
I'm back today with a post thats a bit different for me, I'll be showing you my stash/polish area.
I have wanted to do this for awhile but every time I went to take pictures they just never turned out nicely. Thankfully I finally got some pictures I'm satisfied with :)

Lets start with my set up! I have a rolling shelf unit with a Melmer on top as well as 2 Helmers (Only 1 is photographed). I have all of this set up in my living room (No where else in my 1 bedroom apartment), thankfully it's a pretty big living room.

This is a view from above, I have a basket of nail polish I am trying to sell on top of my Melmer, and then a little 3 drawer container filled with nail art supplies.

I'll start with my Melmer (You can buy these at Michaels). My top drawer is the drawer I go into the most often. This drawer has Cotton Squares, Q-tips (for cleanup), Sponges, My camera battery charger, and business cards from various brands I've worked with.

My second drawer has supplies for mailing out nail mail. I've got boxes of cards, bubble mailers, and tape!

And my bottom drawer has giveaway supplies in it. I've got chocolates/candy, little bags, polishes to use for giveaways, and random stuff lol.

Next up is my nail art supplies that I keep in the 3 drawer container on top of my Helmer.
Top drawer consists of nail art brushes, striping brushes, and dotting tools.

Second drawer has striping tape, stamping supplies, studs, and glitter.

The last drawer has all of my polish stripers? I don't really know what to call them haha.

Now lets get straight to the polishes, I'll show you my first Helmer.
The top drawer is my first indie polish drawer. This drawer is filled with the indie brands I first tried/cherish the most. I've got Different Dimension, Candy Lacquers, Rainbow Honey, Candeo Colors, Daring Digits, Krafty Gurl, Femme Fatale Lacquer, Glitzology and Lush Lacquer.

#2  is another indie drawer. Once my top indie drawer was full I realized I had to start a second lol, yay! This one has Wingdust, Fandom Cosmetics, Franken Frosting, Polishaus, Pipe Dream Polish, Pretty and Polished, Lime Crime, and my mini's that I've reviewed.

#3 is all Color Clubs. My favorite non-indie brand! Also, you can see how I organize my polish in the colors of the rainbow lol.

#4 is all China Glaze. If I buy anymore I will have to start a second CG Drawer.

#5 consists of polish I don't have too much of. OPI, Orly, Barielle, Essie and Zoya. I used to have a ton of OPI's and Barielles but I've started de-stashing recently and had to part with a lot.

#6, the last drawer in my first helmer is again filled with randoms. Illamasqua, Nubar, Seche, Deborah Lippman, Butter London, Sephora by OPI, Sephora X, Nails Inc, Funky Fingers, Finger Paints, Hello Kitty, Ciate, and Julep.

Then I recently bought myself a second Helmer. I didn't have TOO much to put in there, but I've made use out of most drawers!
#1 is filled with mostly top coats. I also have cuticle oils, creams, hardeners, nail wheels, and files.

#2 is my drugstore polish drawer. I've got Sinful Colors, Pure Ice, Hard Candy, Gosh, Joe, Revlon, and Nicole by OPI.

#3 is again drug store polishes (and it's messy lol). I've got Sally Hansen and Essence in here.

#4 has extra nail art stuff. For some odd reason I have candy in here lol, but I have nail wraps, stickers and nail tattoos as well!

#5 has all my Sephora by OPI Gelshine products in it!

My last drawer is still empty, I need more polish to fill it haha.

And that's it, that's my polish stash! I hope you enjoyed reading this, it was fun doing something different!

Thanks! xox
